Paul Theron Silas was an American professional basketball player and head coach of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from July 12, 1943, until December 10, 2022. He was a two-time NBA All-Star player and was chosen five times for the NBA All-Defensive Team, twice for the first team. With the Boston Celtics and the Seattle SuperSonics, he captured three NBA titles in total.
In high school, Silas won the California Mr. Basketball title and was selected to the second team of the Parade All-Americans. He was a second-team All-American as a senior in college basketball with the Creighton Bluejays. He played in the NBA for 16 seasons after being chosen in the second round of the 1964 NBA Draft. Silas spent 12 seasons as a head coach after his playing career.
