Finding Dory Tops UK Box-Office

Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory has swam straight into number 1 at the UK and Ireland box office after taking a massive £8.1m in it’s opening weekend.

The animated children’s movie which features the voice of US superstar Ellen DeGeneres as the forgetful blue tang fish Dory was released in the UK and Ireland this Friday and is the follow up to the 2003 smash-hit Finding Nemo.

The latest release from Pixar has proved to be a massive hit around the world and is already the highest grossing animated film of all time in America after beating Shrek 2’s earnings. Finding Dory has now earned $445.5m so far while Shrek 2 earned $444.2m.

Finding Dory topped this weekends box office beating Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne which is the fifth release in the Bourne series. despite being beaten by Dory, Jason Bourne still earned an impressive £7.6m.

Last weeks number 1 The BFG fell to third place taking £3.4m over the weekend.
